Philip Blond’s Red Tory: How Left and Right Have Broken Britain and How We Can Fix It, is a challenging and provocative book that is not likely to be appreciated or enjoyed by David Cameron or Tories.
However, its remarkable title fronts a remarkable story about how contemporary politics have been altered throughout the course of the beginning of the 21st century. Of course, the worst effect of the political upheaval is the fact that uncommitted voters have no idea of how to cast their vote.
In the midst of this difficult political climate, Blond, a lecturer from the rough side of Liverpool, weighs in with a whether blunt and devastating analysis of the state that voters now find themselves in throughout the UK.
Blond writes that there is a serious problem with Britain, which is a thought that can be reflected throughout everyone from the little people on the street to the politicians although no one will put a label on it despite being aware of the symptoms that include an increase in violent crime, increasing fear, debt, recession, infidelity, depression, bureaucratic and unresponsive public services, and many more factors.
The bad part for Cameron, is that Blond blames the Thatcher/Reagan era of neo-liberalism for what is going on right now due to the fact that it pushed the stated into taking on damage control and let unbridled bankers rip off the public.
However, what is interesting is that Blond ignores the effect of television culture on society completely instead keeping his blame focused on the Big Brother epidemic.
